Wedding in Richmond -relaxed and fun, in Richmond Park

Wedding in Richmond
Last week saw the lovely wedding in Richmond of a very friendly couple in the beautiful setting of Pembroke Lodge. The photography possibilities are endless.
Pembroke Lodge, the home of 19th-century British Prime Minister LordJohn Russell and his grandson, the philosopher Bertrand Russell. Richmond Park includes many buildings of architectural or historic interest. The Grade I-listed White Lodge was formerly a royal residence and is now home to the Royal Ballet School. The park’s boundary walls and ten other buildings are listed at Grade II.
The building is of historical interest, having been the residence of the British Prime Minister Lord John (later, Earl) Russell and the childhood home of his grandson, the philosopher Bertrand Russell. It was also the regimental headquarters of the Phantom Squad during the Second World War. It is owned by the Crown Estate and is currently privately run as a catering facility and a conference and wedding venue on a long lease from The Royal Parks. It also houses a heritage charity, The Hearsum Collection.

Fun Wedding Photos in Kingston
This lovely couple brought a bit of Scotland to this Surrey Hotel last week.
The Hotel Antoinette hosted another beautiful wedding and I had the pleasure to photograph it.
Ideally located overlooking landscaped gardens, The Antoinette is the largest and most established Hotel in The Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames with over one hundred bedrooms, and secure car parking for 100 cars.
The Antoinette Hotel is in a quiet location just 10 miles outside central London and a short walk

Interesting talk and wedding photography
February 21, 2014
I look forward to discovering even more venues for wedding photography for this year. I’ve just been to a very interesting talk about exciting businesses. I found it very encouraging to meet the owner of the group, Matt Kendall and to hear from speakers such as Natasha Godbold. Natahasha is excited about all things London and lets people know of her favourite venues, people and fashions of the moment.
Natasha says ‘My bold fashion sense and confidence helped me gain access to some of the best parties around town.Quickly I was mingling within the London Celebrity circuit, and wow I saw some things which never made it into the papers. ‘
With Lucy Whittington as well, it was such an informative evening. The three speakers and other attendees were buzzing afterwards and the friendly group finished the night by inviting us to a cosy local pub for a well- earned drink.

wedding fairs and booking a London wedding photographer
April 5, 2013
Are wedding fairs worth while for wedding couples looking for a London wedding photographer and other suppliers? I have exhibited at fairs myself, as a wedding supplier, but are wedding fairs worth while? I’ve done many. Some have given me several bookings but others have resulted in no bookings at all. I’ve enjoyed this one below at the Richmond Gate hotel and Kingston’s Hotel Antoinette.
Wedding Fair

I had a great wedding fair today at the Hotel Antoinette in Kingston
I had a great wedding fair today at the Hotel Antoinette in KIngston. Many friendly and curious couples came along to my stand and I even ran out of brochures! It was good to see whole families come along and be enthusiastic about marrying here. Thanks also to the helpful staff for looking after us as well.

Some Good Tips – 1 – Eat first, then greet your guests
Instead of a receiving line that takes an enormous amount of time to chat with every guest individually, better to get things going. Arrange for a 30 minute to 60 minute cocktail hour, make your “Grand Entrance” half way through the cocktail hour, then open the buffet line with your wedding party. Since you are the first through the line, you will be the first done eating AND have a chance to eat in peace, as your guests will be waiting to get in line. Once you are finished with your dinner, walk around and great your guests one table at a time! This allows you to greet eight to ten people at once, while the event continues to move along at a good pace.
By speaking with your guests proactively, they won’t feel as inclined to seek you out later or as they leave for “one on one” interaction. If you have 200 guests and speak with each one for only one minute each, that takes up 3-½ hours of your reception!
Some Good Tips – 2 Pour champagne only for toasts for guests that like champagne
I’ve seen hundreds of glasses of champagne poured for toasts, only to see dozens of glasses left untouched on the tables and poured out into the sink later in the night. Why?? A lot of people don’t like champagne and will not drink it even if it is FREE and placed directly in front of them.
It is better to have the bartender pour a few dozen glasses at the bar and have your DJ announce that the toast will be “With whatever drink you have in your hand.” The DJ can instruct your guests to go to the bar to freshen their beverage or pick up a glass of champagne if they so wish. This little tip will can save you $100 or more in wasted champagne and/or corkage fees.
Some Good Tips – 3 Do your toast and your cake cutting together.
Many photographers prefer to shoot the toasts at the cake table, a very photogenic and decorated location. Once the last toast is completed, it is a good idea for the groom (the new “man of the house”) to greet the guests and thank them for traveling so far to spend your special day with you. As soon as that is done, the DJ can slide on a nice background song and you can cut your wedding cake while you have everyone’s attention. It is good to then wait at least 15 minutes before your formal dances so the caterer can cut and serve the cake to your guests. The best time for your first dance is while everyone is sitting at their table eating wedding cake!
The best Wedding Venues
February 3, 2013
Being from the area I do favour the Borough of Richmond and so think we do have the best Wedding venues . This green and picturesque area offers some the most unique and beautiful places to marry in.
A couple’s venue is so important for the day. I look for convenience for you and your guests, a beautiful setting . And most importantly, attentive and efficient staff to help the day go smoothly.
The friendly Richmond Registry Office registrars are based at Paradise Road, Richmond and attend some of the areas most famous houses and best hotels in the area. Richmond Park is half a mile away for one of my favourite places, Pembroke Lodge, as mentioned earlier. Ham House has the splendour and style to really make your wedding portraits stand out. It’s tucked away on the riverside in Petersham. Marble Hill house is on the other side of the river, in Twickenham. These are just the best locations for wedding photography.
The Richmond Gate Hotel is one my favourite hotels. Its perched on the top of Richmond Hill so is just minutes from the Parks gate. It has parking and just has a smart, tasteful and comfortable atmosphere. I’ve taken many wedding photographs here. The receptions here have been bright and colourful events in the conservatory. The garden is a pleasant extension of the conservatory for people to relax and children to stretch their legs.
One the advantages of this (and the Richmond Hill Hotel next to it) are that you have the breath taking views of the Thames just across the road.
The hotels having a wedding fair soon. I’ll check on the dates as I’ve displayed my work there before and provided chocolate covered strawberries
